The Bottle of Tears (Let the Light Shine) – Launch competition.

To thank everyone who is intending to grab a copy of my new novel, The Bottle of Tears, (published on the 30th September, 2016) I’ve decided to run a little competition.
Enter, and you can win up to seven night’s accommodation in my self catering apartment in Nice (www.nice-flat.com) for two people, plus £200 towards travel costs, plus a signed copy.
Nine runners up will each win one signed copy of The Bottle of Tears.

ENTRY (From the 30th September at 00:00 until the 14th October 2016, at 23:59)..

To take part in the competition you need a facebook, twitter or Instagram account, and you need to befriend me (Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/alexandernick ) or follow me (Twitter: https://twitter.com/authornick or Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/authornickalexander).
Feel free to invite your friends to join in and if they win all you have to do is convince them to invite you along!
You also need to purchase either a paperback copy of the Let the Light Shine or a Kindle copy on your Kindle/iPhone/Smartphone.

To enter, you’ll need to take two photos of your paperback copy of Let the Light Shine, or of your electronic reading device (Kindle/iPad/Smartphone) clearly displaying:

PHOTO #1: The cover of Let the Light Shine .

PHOTO #2: The beginning of Part Four: Let the Light Shine.

THESE MUST BE ACTUAL PHOTOS OF YOUR READING DEVICE TAKEN IN SITU,
NOT SCREEN DUMPS, SAVED IMAGES FROM ELSEWHERE, OR PHOTOSHOPPED IMAGES.

Images suspected of being Photoshop or of having otherwise been manipulated to combine separate images into a single photo will be excluded.

You may post one pair of photos for each of the 14 days of the competition, ie you may enter up to, but no more than, 14 times. Multiple entries on any one day will be disqualified.

TO ENTER ON FACEBOOK.
These photos MUST be posted to your timeline with PUBLIC privacy settings. The post above each photo must state the following text:

“I’m reading Nick Alexander’s new novel Let the Light Shine, and I’m hoping to win a holiday for two in Nice as well!”

I, Nick Alexander, must be tagged in each of the entered photos and the tagline text otherwise I will not see the photo and it will not be included. If you don’t know how to do this, ask the neighbour’s kid. To tag me you will need to be my friend on Facebook and not simply follow my author page.

TO ENTER ON TWITTER

These photos MUST be tweeted to me @authornick. The post associated with each photo must state the following text:

You must tweet each of the photos @authornick otherwise I will not see the photo and it will not be included. If you don’t know how to do this, ask the neighbour’s kid.

TO ENTER ON INSTAGRAM

These photos MUST be adressed to me @authornickalexander. The post associated with each photo must state the following text:

You must post each of the photos @authornickalexander otherwise I will not see the photo and it will not be included. If you don’t know how to do this, ask the neighbour’s kid.

JUDGING.

– Photos will be judged by Lolo and myself based on how aesthetically pleasing they are. Extra marks will be given for the quality of the photography, and how amusing/quirky they are.

– Photos may contain props, people, pets, monuments, or anything else you can think of to make your photo stand out, as long as the cover image and chapter title are clearly visible.

Out of all available posts, Lolo and I will each choose five favourite photos (though only one favourite entry from any single person) and each of these ten winners will receive one copy of Let the Light Shine, signed by me, dedicated to the person of your choice, and delivered to your door by mail.

– From these ten winners, one overall winner will be drawn at random from a hat, and this winner, the “overall” winner, will receive the following additional prize:

Up to seven nights accommodation in my holiday flat (www.nice-flat.com) in the centre of old Nice, France plus a non-negotiable contribution of £200 (or €230) towards travel costs for one or two people.

This sum will be reimbursed to you in cash on arrival in the apartment, either in GB pounds or in Euros depending on the winner’s preference.

Anyone unable or unwilling to travel to Nice, or unable to climb the stairs to the apartment, or not wishing to claim this prize for any other reason may choose an alternative prize of one £200/230€ Amazon gift voucher, however, this choice must be notified within 7 days of the close of the competition, and before flights have been purchased or dates in the accommodation confirmed.

Additional Terms and Conditions:

1. This prize draw is open to residents of the European Community aged 18 years or over, except personal friends or family of Nick Alexander.

2. Details of how to enter form part of the terms and conditions. It is a condition of entry that all rules are accepted as final and that the competitor agrees to abide by these rules. The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Nick Alexander reserves the right to modify the Promotion at any time without prior notice.

3. Entries must be submitted via the entering person’s facebook timeline or twitter account. Photos must contain the specified tag line (I’m reading Nick Alexander’s new novel Let the Light Shine, and I’m hoping to win a holiday for two in Nice as well!) and Nick Alexander must be tagged in each photo and in each tagline text (facebook) or the tweet must be addressed to @authornick (twitter). Each entry comprises two photos, one of the cover of Let the Light Shine, and one of Part Four: Let the Light Shine (Page 275 in the printed edition).

4. Entry is restricted to one pair of photos per person per day of the competition. Late, illegible, incomplete, defaced or corrupt entries, or entries sent through agencies and third parties, will not be accepted. No responsibility can be accepted for unseen entries.

5. One overall winner will be drawn at random from the ten selected entries received by the closing date.

6. All entries must be received between the start date: the 30th September at 00:00 and the closing date: 23.59pm on 14th October 2016.

7. The winners will be notified by facebook no later than 7 days after the end date and are required to confirm acceptance within 7 days of notification. Should Nick Alexander be unable to contact a winner, or should a winner be unable to confirm their acceptance of the prize, Nick Alexander reserves the right to award the prize to an alternative winner, drawn in accordance with these terms and conditions. Nick Alexander may ask the winner to provide proof of age and/or country of residence.

8. The prize as described is available on the date of publication.

9. The winner will receive a contribution to travel costs of £200 or €230, plus accommodation for up to seven nights. Alternatively the winner may choose an alternative prize of an Amazon voucher to the value of £200/€230. There is no cash alternative, no change given and the prize is non-transferable. It cannot be sold or given to an alternative party. The contribution to travel costs will be paid, in cash, on arrival in Nice or for those choosing not to travel in the form of an Amazon gift voucher. Under no circumstances will it be paid in any other way.

10. The winner and their companion are responsible for all travel arrangements and bookings, including booking flights, shuttle buses to and from Airports, and relevant passports, travel documentation and insurance.

11. Changes and cancellations after the initial booking for WHATEVER REASON will not be entertained. Basically if you don’t travel once the dates have been booked, the prize will be lost.

12. The apartment offered is accessed via a steep staircase and is situated on the 3rd floor. It is unfortunately thus unsuitable for people with mobility problems. Such entrants may choose the alternative voucher prize should they win.

13. Up to seven nights of contiguous accommodation are offered in Nick’s holiday apartment in the centre of Nice, France, at a date to be chosen between the 1st December 2016 to the 30th June 2017 subject to availability. 14. Events may occur that render the prize draw itself or the awarding of the prize impossible due to reasons beyond the control of Nick Alexander, and accordingly Nick Alexander may at his absolute discretion vary or amend the promotion and the entrant agrees that no liability shall attach to Nick Alexander as a result thereof.

15. The decisions of the judges are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

16. By taking part in this promotion, all participants consent to me collecting, storing and using their personal data submitted with their entry for the unique purposes of this promotion.

17. Any personal data relating to participants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will not be used for any other purposes.

18. A list of winners’ names will be published on http://www.nick-alexander.com after closure of the promotion.

19. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by or associated with Facebook or Twitter. You are providing your information to Nick Alexander and not to these corporations. By participating in this promotion you agree to a complete release of Facebook and Twitter from any claims.
